When it comes to senior photos, Downtown Akron is an amazing choice for a city vibe without the overwhelming crowds of Cleveland. Layla’s downtown Akron senior session was the perfect example of how versatile and stunning this location can be!

We started Layla’s session on top of one of my favorite hidden gems—a parking garage directly across from the Akron Art Museum. I highly recommend this spot for weekday evening sessions! Since the museum is closed, we practically had the entire rooftop to ourselves, and the view of the city is absolutely unbeatable.

Layla kicked off her session in a simple, floral romper paired with her favorite cowgirl boots. We used the brick walls to create a more grounded, classic look that let her country roots shine through while still embracing the city backdrop. The soft textures of the bricks paired with the downtown skyline gave her photos the perfect blend of country charm meeting city energy.

For her second look, Layla switched into a cowgirl themed outfit, and we started incorporating even more of Akron’s surroundings into her senior photos. We played with the texture of the glass walls nearby, using their subtle reflections to add a creative, artistic twist to her portraits. Little touches like that really make her downtown Akron senior session feel unique and personal!

After a quick walk, we moved to the exterior of the Akron Art Museum. The museum’s striking blue glass architecture couldn’t have been more perfect for Layla’s dress, which was decorated with delicate blue flowers. The modern design of the building created such a one of a kind backdrop…it’s truly a dream for anyone wanting photos that are both artistic and vibrant.

As golden hour approached, we captured Layla in front of the museum as the setting sun danced across the glass. The way the golden light reflected off the blue panels was just breathtaking! There’s something about this spot at sunset that brings such a magical, soft glow to senior photos.

To finish the session, we returned to the top of the parking garage just in time for sunset. It’s amazing how much the lighting can change the scene!

As the sun slipped below the horizon, the city lights began to twinkle, creating a moody, dreamy atmosphere for Layla’s final portraits. The cooler tones gave her senior session a totally different, dramatic feel compared to the warm golden hour glow.

One thing I absolutely loved about working with Layla was the variety she brought with her outfit choices. Each look gave us a completely different mood and setting to work with, making her gallery so diverse and exciting. Downtown Akron proved once again to be the perfect location for seniors who want a city vibe with a little more breathing room compared to Cleveland.
